blog time!
erm so where shall i begin...
my thoughts on temptation -
There's a lot of stuff we can be tempted to do or say in this world, and its getting harder and harder to withdraw from what the world is doing, but this is no excuse! We all have things which we ae tempted by, and there is nothing we can do about that, its not our fault that we want something badly - but - its what we do about it. When thinking about temptation we have to remember that Jesus was tempted here on earth too, but he didn't give in! 40 days without food is a heck of a long time! Could you say no to a loaf of bread after that long, and resist the chance to show of your powers? You could say 'oh it was alright for Him, He was God', and that is right, but He was also totally human - and its human nature to sin! He faced just what we do! He relyed totally on His father to help Him fight temptation, he never let his well being come before obeying His father, He hid the 'word' in his heart and used it when he neded it most just as we should:
'Hide God's word in your heart so that you won't sin against Him' Psalm 119:11
It doesn't matter what the situation, the scriptures will guide us and show us whaty to do
in those sticky situations ...
these have all been a great help to me:
ISAIAH 41:10 'I WILL STRENGTHEN YOU AND HELP YOU'
MATTHEW 28:20 'JESUS IS ALWAYS WITH YOU'
ROMANS 12:21 'DO NOT LET EVIL DEFEAT YOU. DEFEAT EVIL BY DOING GOOD'
MARK 9:23 'ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IF A PERSON BELIEVES'
PROVERBS 3:5 'TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING'
