Inspirational Refreshers
Strange I know but whilst munching on Refreshers (haven't had them in a long time!) Out of the pack rolled red, orange + green, and it made me think of this..
In a road there are traffic lights - they instruct you on when to get ready, when to go and when to stop. It’s not wise to go through a red light and in the same way it’s not wise to hang around at a green light. As for orange, you should be preparing your next move, whether it be slowing down ready to stop or gearing up ready to go. Figured where I'm going with this yet?
Well God I think that God is like the traffic lights for the roads of our life. He tells us when to get ready, when to go and when to stop. And I'd say its pretty wise to listen to these directions, it saves a whole load of hassle!
Taking the orange first - throughout our lives God is preparing us for whatever bumps are ahead, whether they be times of hardship or times of great joy, they are a disturbance in our lives - good or bad. Anything could be around the corner, and God wants to help us be ready for whatever that is, but He can only do that if we let Him. God knows where the next speed bump is, so why not listen to His voice, let Him be your map, He's got the best route already marked out, its just a case of whether your going to accept His way is best. In this instance orange represents waiting; there are times in our lives when, we have to wait, wait for God's signal to either stop and accept its time to move on to something different, or wait for His all clear for us to start the next part of the journey. Waiting on the Lord is essential to life, if we don't do this then we will be misguided and stray from the path he has marked out for us.
Green - So we've waited upon the Lord, and now He's telling us to go! Hang on though; do you really like the sound of this? Is this really the best route? I reckon there’s got to be an easier way? Don’t you think? - This is where trust plays a huge part, we have to trust the Lord that He will take care of us, whatever happens He will be the one thing we can rely on - we can be certain of nothing but Him.
If God's gives us the go ahead, then we must be ready otherwise He wouldn't be sending us on the journey! So what are we waiting for - lets go for it!
Red - We've been on this road for a while now, things are going fine, nothing greats happening but nothing bad is happening either, we like it like this, its our 'comfort zone' but we mustn’t get too comfy. I'm not saying that God is out to disrupt life as soon as things get rosy, but we have to be careful that we don't lose sight of God and forget to listen to Him. When we have done what God wants us to do in one area of life, its time to move on, there’s loads more work to be done! So when God asks us to leave the road we are on, we must understand that its for the best, no matter how we feel at the time - trust God with all your heart, mind and soul.
So to conclude, we need to keep a look out for the signals God is giving us, and accept that He knows best, not let our emotions get the better of us and deter us away for God's way.
