forgive and forget
Was just reminded of this post - did I write this lol?! Think its very true.
Sounds so simple, and yet not quite so easy to put into practice. When somebody hurts us, or does something against us, its hard to forgive them, but to forget is even harder! However this is not the point I want to focus on.
I want us to think about the things that we do wrong and how God deals with us, and how we should respond. God's love is so great, He sent His Son for us, so that are sins could be forgiven. He loves us that much! He wants us to be free from sin, not tied and bound by guilt, but sadly we sometimes are. We are not bound because of what God has done, but by the fact that we will not let go.
God does not keep a record of all our sins, and every time we fall remind us of our past. As I have said before, when we seek God's forgivness, the slate is wiped clean, God has closed that door behind us. However it doesn't always work that way, we humans like to hold onto guilt for some strange reason! We keep reminding ourselves of what happened previously and we get dragged down with shame of our past sins. But God doesn't want that! He has put it behind Him, He loves us, and wants us to be free, He wants us to forget about it too! We have to learnt to move on, forget what happened in the past. We musn't beat ourselves up if we feel we are heading down a road we've already travelled, we need to recognise it and get back on the straight path. We need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, we can't do that if we turn our heads to look back can we?!
